Assessment of an insect bite
Important points to observe:
- Swelling of the mucous membranes and itching
- Visible stinger or bite
- Bei Stichen im Bereich von Mund, Hals und Gesicht besteht die Gefahr akuter Atemnot (siehe auch Shortness of breath-Symptome)
- Anzeichen einer allergischen Reaktion (siehe Symptome einer Allergy).
What measures should you take?
- Stay calm and give the child a sense of security
- Move to an insect-free environment and monitor the child continuously
- Apply cooling to reduce swelling and relieve pain
- For a bee sting, carefully remove the stinger with tweezers
- Apply an anti-itch gel
Important: Bei Verdacht auf eine Allergie sofort den Notruf 112 wählen! Fahre nicht selbst mit dem Kind im Auto zum Krankenhaus, da sich die Symptome während der Fahrt verschlimmern könnten. Stattdessen sollte ein Notarzt gerufen werden.
Wenn durch die genannten Maßnahmen keine Besserung eintreten, konsultieren Sie zügig einen Arzt oder wählen die 112.
