Assessment of an insect bite

Signs of a sudden allergic reaction:

  • Sudden sharp pain.
  • Swelling of the lips, tongue, cheeks, and palate.
  • Possible difficulty breathing with bluish discoloration of the lips and face.
  • A wheezing sound may be heard while breathing.
What measures should you take?

Dial the emergency number 112 immediately

  • Calm the child and provide a sense of security.
  • Move to an insect-free environment.
  • Seat the child upright or hold them on your lap.
  • Cooling of the mouth and throat is important:
    • Use a cold, damp washcloth.
    • Let the child suck on ice or ice cubes, but only if they are able to swallow, awake, and older.
  • Provide the child with continuous care.
  • Ensure sufficient fresh air supply.

Wenn durch die genannten Maßnahmen keine Besserung eintreten, konsultieren Sie zügig einen Arzt oder wählen die 112.
