Eye injury
Due to impact / fall
The following steps should be followed:
- Calm the child and provide a sense of security.
- Lay the child down or place them on your lap.
- Put a compress on… both Place over the eyes and gently secure.
- Apply cold compresses to reduce any swelling.
- Auf Symptome einer Gehirnerschütterung achten (siehe auch „Kopfverletzung“).
- Orient the child and provide continuous care.
- In urgent cases, call the emergency number 112.
Due to foreign object / chemical burn
The following steps must be followed::
Non-visible foreign objects (e.g., dust or eyelashes):
- Gently brush the foreign object toward the nose.
- Perform an eye rinse.
Call emergency number 112 in case of:
Large, visible foreign object in the eye:
- Do not remove or touch the foreign object.
- Carefully place a compress on the affected eye.
- Loosely wrap both eyes with a gauze bandage to protect them.
Chemical burns (e.g., from bath/drain cleaner):
- Prevent the child from touching their eyes.
- Immediately perform an extensive eye rinse and continue until the emergency services arrive.
- Also protect the healthy eye during this process.
In urgent emergencies, call the emergency number 112.
Wenn durch die genannten Maßnahmen keine Besserung eintreten, konsultieren Sie zügig einen Arzt oder wählen die 112.
