Assessment of testicular pain
Important points to observe:
- Intense to very severe pain in the testicular area, which may extend to the lower abdomen
- Swelling and discoloration of the testicle (red to bluish)
- Overheating of the testicle, possibly accompanied by fever in the boy
- Possibly additional symptoms such as nausea and vomiting
What measures should you take?
- Stay calm and provide a sense of security through continuous care
- Respect the child’s privacy and ask uninvolved persons to leave the room
- Avoid giving the child food or drink to prevent possible nausea from the pain and because a surgery may be necessary
- Provide gentle cooling of the testicle with moist, cold cloths
- Remove tight clothing to avoid pressure
- Carry the boy if necessary to avoid any physical exertion
- Important: In case of any testicular pain, a pediatrician should be consulted immediately to rule out circulatory disorders and minimize the risk of infertility.
If the mentioned measures do not lead to improvement, promptly consult a doctor or call 112. Your personal safety is of utmost importance. Stay calm and composed in every emergency situation.
