Fall
Estimated reading time:
What measures should you take?
- Effectively control severe bleeding (call emergency services 112):
- Elevate the injured body part
- Apply firm pressure to the wound to stop the bleeding (using a compress or cloths)
- Apply a pressure bandage
- If necessary, apply a tourniquet to the affected body part until the ambulance arrives
- Monitor the child’s condition:
- Is the child responsive, or unconscious? (Place in the recovery position if necessary)
- Is the child oriented to person, place, and time?
- Do you or the child know how the fall happened? (Slipping, tripping, etc.)
- Check for additional injuries:
- Are there any bleeding, swelling, or deformities?
- Is there any pain?
If the mentioned measures do not lead to improvement, promptly consult a doctor or call 112. Your personal safety is of utmost importance. Stay calm and composed in every emergency situation.
